Meet Mochi, a nearly 15-year-old dog who had been living with a uterine tumor for almost a year. Her owner was aware of the tumor, but Mochi had been struggling with ongoing discharge and complications. Other hospitals had turned down the surgery due to her age and the tumor’s difficult location. When Mochi’s owner came to us, we carefully evaluated her condition.
We discovered a large tumor attached to the right uterine horn, entwined with both an artery and a vein. We proceeded with great caution during the separation. In addition to the tumor, we found multiple cysts in her right ovary. Ultimately, we decided to remove both her uterus and ovary to ensure her health and well-being.
Despite the risks, we moved forward with the surgery—and we’re so glad we did! Mochi is recovering beautifully.
