Surgery Overview

At Lee Animal Hospital, Dr. Lee recently performed a successful corkscrew tail correction surgery. As seen in the photo, the malformed tail has been carefully removed for the pet’s well-being.

What is Corkscrew Tail? Corkscrew tail is a genetic deformity commonly seen in breeds like Bulldogs, Pugs, and Boston Terriers. It occurs when the tail vertebrae are malformed, causing a twisted, spiral shape resembling a corkscrew.

Why Surgery is Necessary?

If left untreated, corkscrew tail can lead to:

  • Skin infections due to trapped moisture and bacteria
  • Pain and discomfort
  • Mobility issues

Corkscrew tail correction is essential to ensure a pain-free, healthier life for your pet.
