Surgery Overview
Patient Spotlight: Kona. Kona, a sweet 6-year-old Boxer, came to us after her family noticed a growing, squishy mass on her right back leg that she kept licking and chewing.
After running bloodwork and cytology, we discovered the mass was a mast cell tumor (MCT) — one of the most common but also aggressive types of skin cancer in dogs. Dr. Lee recommended surgical removal with wide margins to give Kona the best chance at recovery. Surgery went smoothly and the lab results confirmed the tumor was low-grade MCT. That’s wonderful news — low-grade tumors are much less likely to spread or recur.
Kona is now healing well, and we’re so happy to see her on the road to recovery. Sending lots of love and well wishes to Kona and her family as she continues to heal!
