A 3-year-old female French Bulldog visited us due to ongoing discomfort caused by her tightly curled “corkscrew” tail. The inward, twisted tail created deep skin folds, leading to irritation, infection, bleeding, and bacterial buildup. Her owner also noticed frequent scooting as a result.
After a thorough evaluation, we recommended a total caudectomy—the surgical removal of the entire tail—to resolve the issue and prevent further complications.
The surgery went smoothly and was a success! She has healed beautifully and is now much more comfortable without the chronic irritation. We’re so happy to see her feeling better and enjoying life again!
