A 7-year-old male Siberian Husky was brought to our hospital for a second opinion after experiencing persistent limping in his left hind leg for about a month. His owner had initially taken him to another hospital, but wanted to have his condition evaluated again.
The findings were consistent with a complete cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) tear, which was causing instability and discomfort in his knee.
Because of the severity of the tear, we recommended TPLO (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) surgery to stabilize the knee and help restore normal function. TPLO is a surgical procedure that changes the angle of the tibial plateau so the knee can remain stable during weight-bearing, even without a functioning CCL.
After surgery, he went through his recovery period with careful monitoring and activity restrictions. With time and proper rehabilitation, he healed fully and made an excellent recovery.
Today, he is walking comfortably without pain or limping, and it’s wonderful to see him back on his feet again!
